East Anglian Trust

Governing model

East Anglian Schools’ Trust (EAST):

The East Anglian Schools’ Trust (EAST) was established on 1 September 2019 and created a formal partnership between Bungay, Farlingaye and Kesgrave High Schools. We are confident that this MAT will create a stronger future for our schools and will continue to improve outcomes for all our students and young people.  We believe that working together will achieve great things and provide a first-class educational experience in which all our students can excel.

The East Anglian Schools’ Trust (EAST) is the legal entity that includes all of our academies. Currently the MAT includes Bungay, Farlingaye and Kesgrave High Schools and we will look to grow this in the future.

Who will govern EAST?

The overarching governance of the MAT encompasses two sets of people:

  • the members, who have an important role to play in overseeing and holding trustees to account;
  • and the trustees, who make up the board and are responsible under the academy trust’s articles of association for controlling its management and administration. They have responsibility for directing its affairs and for ensuring that it is solvent, well run, and delivering the trust’s charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public. The board is accountable for the performance of all the schools within the MAT.

At local level within the schools there are Local Governing Bodies who continue to monitor local issues and progress with school improvement.
